Position Summary:

As a Manufacturing Supervisor, you will be at the helm of our production operations, ensuring that our manufacturing processes run smoothly and efficiently. You will oversee a team of dedicated production workers, manage production schedules, and maintain high-quality standards. Your leadership will be key in driving productivity, ensuring safety, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the facility.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Supervision and Leadership:

• Lead, manage, and supervise a team of production workers from Leads to general labor.
• Assign tasks and monitor the daily activities of the production team.
• Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to employees.

Production Management:

• Ensure sub-department production schedules and targets are met.
• Monitor sub-departments production processes and adjust schedules as needed to meet demand.
• Coordinate with other sub-departments to ensure smooth workflow and efficient production.

Quality Control:

• Implement and enforce quality control standards and procedures for responsible sub-department.
• Inspect products to ensure they meet quality specifications for responsible sub-department.
• Identify and resolve production and quality issues within the time frame of job schedule for responsible sub-department.

Safety and Compliance:

• Enforce safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for responsible sub-department.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and coordinate training sessions for responsible sub-department.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory and company standards for responsible sub-department.

Continuous Improvement:

• Identify areas for improvement in sub-department production process.
• Implement and execute lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Implement and execute cost reduction and efficiency improvement projects.

Reporting and Documentation:

• Maintain accurate and updated records of sub-department production activities and initiatives, including output, quality, inventory levels, implementations, etc. of responsible sub-department.
• Prepare and submit sub-department operations reports to management.
• Document any incidents, accidents, or quality issues of responsible sub-department.

Resource Management:

• Manage the allocation of sub-department use of materials, machinery, and workforce to optimize production efficiency.
• Ensure that all necessary materials and supplies are available for sub-department production.

Training and Development:

• Identify training needs and provide ongoing training and development opportunities for sub-department production staff.

Collaboration and Communication:

• Inform the direct manager of any planed or unplanned leave presented during the work scheduled.
• Maintain open and constant communication about all sub-department matters with the direct manager.

Equipment Maintenance:

• Oversee routine maintenance and repair of production equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Coordinate with the maintenance team to schedule and manage equipment downtime.

Performance Metrics:

• Track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and improve production performance for responsible sub-department.
• Use performance data to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvement initiatives for responsible sub-department.

Conflict Resolution:

• Address and resolve conflicts or issues among production staff promptly and effectively.
• Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

Minimum Requirements:

Education:

High School Diploma or Equivalent:

• A foundational requirement, demonstrating basic education and readiness for further training and development.

Associate’s Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or Related Field:

• Provides specialized knowledge in manufacturing processes, quality control, and technical skills.

Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Related Field:

• Preferred for in-depth understanding of manufacturing principles, management, and leadership. Courses in supply chain management, operations management, and industrial technology are beneficial.

Certifications:

Certified Production and Inventory Management (CPIM):

• From APICS, indicating expertise in production and inventory management.

Lean Manufacturing Certification:

• Demonstrates knowledge in lean principles and waste reduction.

Six Sigma Certification:

• Indicates proficiency in quality management and process improvement.

Certified Manufacturing Engineer (CMfgE):

• From SME, highlighting advanced knowledge in manufacturing engineering.

Skills/Experience:

• Minimum 3-5 Years in Manufacturing or Production Environment: Demonstrates familiarity with the industry, understanding of production workflows, and hands-on experience with manufacturing processes.
• Previous Supervisory or Leadership Experience: Preferably 1-2 years, showing capability in managing teams, handling conflict resolution, and providing guidance and mentorship.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles: Practical experience in implementing lean methods, 5S, Kaizen, and other continuous improvement techniques.
• Understanding of Quality Control Procedures: Experience in maintaining quality standards, conducting inspections, and addressing quality issues.
• Familiarity with Safety Standards and Regulations: Hands-on experience in enforcing safety protocols, conducting safety audits, and ensuring compliance with OSHA and other regulatory bodies.
• Project Management Experience: Leading or participating in projects aimed at process improvement, new product introduction, or equipment upgrades.
• Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Proven track record of identifying issues, analyzing data, and implementing effective solutions.
• Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with team members, management, and other departments.
• Experience with Performance Metrics and Reporting: Developing, tracking, and analyzing KPIs to measure production performance and drive improvements.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency with manufacturing equipment, understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, and ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
• Team Building and Training Experience: Skills in building cohesive teams, providing training, and fostering a collaborative work environment.

Physical Demands

Specific eyesight requirements: 

• Ability to distinguish between colors.
• Visual acuity to read fine print on documents and screens.
• Depth perception to operate machinery safely.

Standing and Walking:

• Occasional lifting of heavier items with the assistance of equipment or team members.

Bending, Stooping, and Kneeling: 

• Regular bending, stooping, and kneeling to inspect machinery, perform maintenance tasks, and handle materials.
• Flexibility to work in low positions and confined spaces as needed.

Reaching and Handling: 

• Frequently reaching overhead and below shoulder level to access materials and operate machinery.
• Manual dexterity to handle small parts and tools accurately.

Pushing and Pulling: 

• Ability to push and pull carts, equipment, and materials as needed within the production area.

Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): 

• Regular use of PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, ear protection, and safety shoes.
• Compliance with all safety protocols and regulations regarding PPE usage.

Work Environment: 

• Exposure to a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, noise levels, and potential hazards.
• Tolerance for working in conditions that may include dust, fumes, and strong odors.

Physical Stamina: 

• Endurance to work extended hours, including overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays as production demands.
• Ability to remain alert and focused during long shifts and high-pressure situations.
