Position Overview

Found ZURU's reliability engineering: platforms that are durable, scale with the business and stay fast.

Architect for change, so systems scale elastically with demand, not to a plan.

Stay at the front of agent-first operations, and keep raising the bar on what our platforms can carry.

Work alongside a global engineering and DevOps team.

Position Impact

Within 30 days, set SLOs for latency, availability and durability with the owners of our core apps.

Every week, report performance and availability against those SLOs.

Within 90 days, every core app meets its SLOs under load, scales elastically and has tested recovery.

Key Responsibilities

Performance and elasticity

• Load-test, profile and tune core apps.

• Make every service scale up and down with demand, automatically.

Durable by design

• Build durable workflows on Temporal, with tested backup and recovery for every data store.

Runtime foundations

• Harden AWS across Lambda, ECS, EKS and Terraform.

• Every build inherits them through GitLab CI and Pod man.

Observability by default

• Wire Open Telemetry from day 1.

• Set SLOs with each business owner in terms they would notice.

On-call and handover

• Own the rota for internal apps.

• Automate the checks an app passes before full support.

Agents in the loop

• Build the loop where an agent proposes the change and a human approves it.

Skills & Experience

• Built elastic systems that scaled through real growth, with the performance data to show.

• Strong AWS: containers, serverless, IAM, and Terraform or equivalent.

• Hands-on observability: Open Telemetry, metrics, tracing and alerts people act on.

• Designed for durability: replication, backups and restores you've actually tested.

• Carried a pager for systems other people wrote, and made it sustainable.
